Sept 84 reports Col R L Penick pioneer of Stamford his daughter Miss Lilias Penick and Charles OBrien of Stephenville were rescued after over 24 hours trapped by floodwaters of the Clear Fork of the Brazos. Boat crews saved them from the roof of a stone building at Penick Country Estate Lilias Lodge on the river bank as floodwaters subsided then rose again westward near Hawley. Concrete pavement sections on Highway 430 between Hawley and Abilene were underwater.
