Talkative Fugitive Back in Jail After Lubbock Visit
Sidney Maurice Willburn, 23, who had been jailed in Plainview for the Hale Center bank robbery, was released after a joke arrest in Lubbock but returned to Plainview jail within 14 hours. Light Showers Reported Across High Plains
Scattered thundershowers fell yesterday afternoon and last night on the High Plains with Adrian reporting 16 inches of rain from 7:30 to 7:40 accompanied by heavy lightning. Vega saw 0.10 inches between 8 and 9 pm, then hard rain at 10, tapering to a sprinkle by 9. Tucumcari had a trace in the afternoon with gale winds 30 mph at 6 to 7 pm reducing visibility to 8 miles. Thunderstorms were noted around the station and north of it through 10 pm with Hereford reporting rain northwest of Summerfield.
