Integration Battle Strikes Texarkana College Scene
In Texarkana on September 6 a shotgun blast damaged a service station owned by J L Montgomery and Marvin Marshall. A white cross burned on Texarkana Junior College campus and a dummy of a Negro was found hanged in effigy. The campus had just admitted its first two Negro entrants after entrance tests and other Negroes planned to enroll pending tests, transcripts, and tuition.

Negroes Enter White Classes In Kentucky
Nine Negro students entered Sturgis High School as National Guardsmen kept back a hostile white mob. About 500 white residents gathered. 200 guardsmen with bayonets cleared a path to the school, seven arrests made, tanks patrolled, and half the 320 students were absent. Infant Dies Under Truck in Muleshoe
An 18 month old girl, Glenda Joyce Vinson, died after the rear wheels of a truck ran over her in Muleshoe at 7 30 p m. The child’s sisters Lettie four and Linda three played nearby while the driver Blackie Johnson later told a relative he did not see the baby. The uncle Dan Vinson rushed the child to West Plains Hospital where she died. The mother was admitted in shock.
