Captured are Clyde Byrd Grady Gayton and William Hurst. At large are J W Garrett Jessie Bell Charles Cavendish and James Morency. All seven were recaptured over the weekend after an AWOL Friday.

Amarillo Independent School District and Amarillo College District may hold a $6.82 million bond election on September 24 after the school board agreed to pursue official steps to call the election on September 12 with ten days notice required by law. The bond would fund new classrooms and facilities to meet three years of projected needs.
Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam pleaded innocent at arraignment on indictments charging kidnapping and murder of 14 year old Emmett Till from Chicago. Judge Swango set trial date for Thursday. they declined bond amid ongoing term and jail confinement.
The best selling author Anne Morrow Lindbergh will have Gift From the Sea serialized in seven installments starting next Tuesday September 13 in The Daily News. Her work follows two prior best sellers and references the Lindbergh family and the famous kidnapping tragedy.
A CIM Globemaster crashed during takeoff at Kirtland Air Force Base. One killed, one seriously injured, 67 unharmed. The Biggs AFB crew included Capt. E. A. Eastland and A.20 Fred W. Stephens of El Paso.
As thousands of Texas students return to classes several cities including Austin and Big Spring desegregate public schools. The Texas Supreme Court plans to hear Sept 16 an appeal that could guide all 2000 districts on state funding for desegregated schools. District Judge Charles Sullivan previously ruled that Texas public schools may desegregate immediately and still receive state funds.
In Amarillo area history, Bushland School enrolls 60 white pupils and one Negro, eight year old Robert Wright, who will start second grade today. Wright, son of Mr and Mrs Earl Wright, lives southeast of Bushland on a farm, and attends Carver school when with his grandmother. District officials report no protests and note Supreme Court guidance on desegregation.

The FBI said a twenty dollar bill from the missing three hundred thousand dollar Greenlease ransom was found in Florida. The bill came from the Jacksonville Federal Reserve Bank or sent there by the Florida National Bank Trust Co of Miami. Other bills from the 1953 Greenlease ransom have surfaced since the conviction and execution of Carl Hall and Bonnie Heady.
