Beaumont, Sept 6 Twenty four hours after the decomposed bodies of Miss Bessie Carl 16 of Houston and P O Rial 22 shipping clerk of this city were found local authorities have no clues. Two Negroes are held on suspicion as a precaution. Bloodhounds arrived but time and trampling spoil scent. Rial was interred here at 4 pm yesterday while Miss Carl was shipped to Houston.
A boiler explosion at Wright Lumber Company saw mill nine miles northeast of Lufkin killed a man named Tooke and seriously injured another worker. The two men were firing the boiler when cold water was added, causing the blast that blew a wooden support 150 yards away.
YARMOUTH Nova Scotia Sept 1 The sixty ton schooner Lucille B ox Digby sailed from Havana Aug 15 for St Pierre with 1200 cases of liquor. She put into Mereghan reporting 15 pirates boarded off Boston and seized her cargo.

Ene Sept 6 Burbageh reports a family with ten children totaling 706 years. The eldest survivor is 43 years old and the youngest 6, highlighting a wide age span in a single household.

In Hemphill County Texas a jury found Pat Walsh of Amarillo guilty on a statutory charge involving Mary Parker sixteen from Hansford County. The court sentenced Walsh to eight years in the penitentiary.

In South Amboy on September 6 a blast from large quantities of black powder being moved from Columbia Salvage Company box cars to barges on the Raritan river killed two men and seriously burned several others. A second explosion lit the night for miles as cars burst apart. Firemen fought the blaze with help from nearby towns. six explosions total were reported as cars burned and debris scattered. Cars were moved away from powder sources to prevent spread, and ambulances ferried the injured to hospitals with many not expected to recover.
Adjutant General Tt. D. Barton left Austin for Dallas to confer with Ranger Shumate over liquor raid work in Somervell County. He planned to receive a report on ranger activities and then proceed to Amarillo for an open port test case next week.
Waco Texas September 6 teachers from Falls Limestone and McLennan counties met in institute and adopted resolutions asking the State Board of Education to rescind its order setting aside 1 500 000 for text book contracts which courts have held invalid The resolutions urge keeping the money in the available school fund for current year apportionment to the schools
