The accomplice bound and gagged the money transporter and fled after the Crime. The robbers were identified as Jerry Peacock 23 and Ken Grissinger 20 with Peacock forcing Grissinger to pull over before binding him in the rear compartment.
Texas League action shows Austin 5 Amarillo 3 and San Antonio 3-1 over Tulsa in a best of five series. In the American League Cleveland beat Boston 9-5 New York defeated Washington 6-1 Baltimore won 41 1 over Detroit in a suspended game continuation, Kansas City fell to Los Angeles 2-12, Chicago and Minnesota tied 3-3 in a fog stoppage. National League results include Cincinnati 5 St Louis 2 Milwaukee 5 Philadelphia 4 in 13 innings Los Angeles 12 San Francisco 2 and Pittsburgh 8 Chicago 3.
U S troops clashed twice with East German Communist police near the city border in Keukooll Treptowerstrasse. The Reds sprayed a jeep with water from a hydrant and fled after U S forces replied with tear gas. First jeep involved Lt Kenneth Hurt and Pfc Michael Corner. Second jeep included Sgt Dominic Petrarca and Cpl Har.
Mickey Mantle, after missing two games with an injury, hits his 51st homer in his first at bat for the Yankees against the Washington Senators. It ties Ruth’s 1927 pace at 60 as Mantle drives in his 11th vs Washington, his third off righty Joe McClain, and level at 1 1 in the second inning. Roger Maris also sits with 53 homers leading the majors.
Weather report from the U S Weather Bureau notes clear to partly cloudy skies across Amarillo and Northwest Texas through Thursday, with a warmup. Highs near 87 in Amarillo and up to 88 in Northwest Texas, with a few thundershowers possible Thursday afternoon in parts of Northwest Texas.

An American student Marvin William Makinen of Chassell Michigan was sentenced to eight years in a Kiev military court after a two day trial for espionage. Washington protested the ruling and sought access to the youth.
