Utility officials say the East Texas evaluation order was revoked and long plans to put fires under Sterling were reconsidered. Sterling Telephone Company will reduce rates in Amarillo, ranging from 11 to 7 cents for all users after a voluntary action prompted by officials.
The Southwestern Bell Telephone Company lowers rates in Amarillo effective September 1 after Mayor Ernest O. Thompson urged the move. The cuts include 50 cents on business lines 25 cents on residence lines and 75 cents on commercial trunks affecting about 10 400 subscribers. Officials say the reduction completes all city public utility rate cuts and follows a two million dollar company investment in Amarillo.

Jefferson City Miss Sept 3 An order from the State Blue Sky department halts sale of oil stock by A A Malone of Dallas who allegedly operates in Missouri without a permit and is barred from any further such offerings in the state.
J E McDonald and Governor Sterling pressed for a 1932 cotton acreage cut, reporting 15 to 17 Senate promises. Huey Long in New Orleans vowed to keep pressure on Sterling, saying the fight must go on and Texans will back their governor.
Ben Turner a 19 year old Albuquerque youth becomes the region's youngest cartoonist with Jerry n Jake. Governor Ross Sterling declined to comment on a general order by Brigadier General Jacob F. Wolters calling for evacuation of most troops in the East Texas oil field. A skeleton force was to remain while a Railroad Commission proration order could go into effect Saturday. Officials said the governor could lift, modify, or keep martial law, with railroad proration and troop decisions still unsettled.
Kilgore Sept 3 Brig Gen Jacob F Wolters revoked his order calling for evacuation of troops from the East Texas field after a phone talk with Governor Sterling. The move delays any partial evacuation and field opening until tomorrow while confirming a new plan with the Railroad Commission to allow 225 barrels per day per well and raise production toward about 495000 barrels overall in Upshur Rusk Gregg and Smith counties. The martial law regime remains at Camp Parrish Kilgore with ongoing controls on crude oil and gas production until further notice.
