Mrs Opal McDowell 4046 Neches was hospitalized after a two car collision at Fillmore and North East Third. A 1937 Plymouth pickup struck by a 1937 Ford coupe driven by Roy Edwin Lee 18 halted at a light. Mrs McDowell unconscious and under observation for possible head injuries. Eyewitness Sam Boswell reported the impact and police corroborated his account.

Amarillo observed Labor Day with a large parade described as possibly the largest labor march in the city's history. Atlanta report: George Robson winner of the 500 mile Indianapolis race and George Barringer were killed in a spectacular Lakewood Park wreck during a 100 mile race. Uncle in Savannah seeks protection after mob threats

Alvin Tex Johnston, Bell Aircraft test pilot from Niagara Falls New York, won the Thompson trophy at Cleveland's air derby with a 373.908 mph average on a 10 lap 30 mile course in a Bell P-39 Air Cobra.
