J W Adams about 35 was stabbed and died after a dispute at DeLuxe Cafe 4211 East Fourth Street. Eftin Cryseroff former cafe owner and nearby tavern operator was charged with murder and later released on 3000 dollar bond.

Fort Worth speed flier Lee Miles was killed during a test flight at Cleveland airport on the eve of the National Air Races. Witnesses said a wing tore off as he rounded a pylon, sending the aircraft into a trees grove at low altitude. Miles was entered in the Grove Trophy Race over a 150 mile closed course on Sunday.
Contractors at Conchas Dam spent over a million dollars on an aerial tramway system, a two mile line with 80 buckets delivering sand and gravel to a massive processing plant. The $13 million project is advancing despite a fatal accident involving J D Stratton of Tucumcari.
Cape Town September 2. The British flotilla leader Broke reported that a mutiny aboard the South African Steamer Sherard Osborn had been quelled and that her master had the situation under control.

Fritz Winkelmann 33 died after attempting to save his brother Rudolph 41 from a house fire near Union Grove. Rudolph perished in bed. Fritz carried family to safety then died in hospital. Sister Hanna Martin was severely burned while aiding the rescue at the Winkelmann home.
An armed masked man robbed Texaco Service Station No 1 at Sixteenth and Van Buren of $22.88 Thursday afternoon. Attendant C A Robison was tied and restrained during the daylight holdup before the bandit fled in a 1935 Ford sedan. Police reported the suspect fled and remained at large.
Joseph Jacobs, 45, pleaded guilty to first degree murder for beating Evelyn Mack to death with an automobile crank. Circuit Judge Harry B. Keidan sentenced him to life at hard labor in the Northern Branch State Prison at Marquette, Mich, after Jacobs confessed to killing his best friend's 10 year old daughter.
Shanghai reports unconfirmed Chinese bombing raids toward Japan including Kagoshima on Kyushu while authenticated strikes hit the Yangtze shore and Tsungmiao Island airbase. Ten Chinese bombers from west of Soochow inflicted losses and returned unscathed.
British naval reinforcements sail into the western Mediterranean with guns ready to answer submarine and airplane attacks on British ships. France agrees to bring the issue to the League of Nations council in Geneva. The Havock and Woodford incidents heighten tension as Italy's role looms large and Chamberlain orders a full cabinet meeting.
