New York Mayor James J Walker resigns amid a 14 month inquiry and a hearing before Governor Franklin D Roosevelt. He says he submits his case to the people of New York City and may seek vindication at the polls. The resignation takes effect immediately as leaders anticipate his run again.
Dr. Richard E. Thacker faced two murder counts after a judge overruled demurrers to the information. He was arraigned and pled not guilty in the deaths of Ruth Hall and Robbie Lou Thompson in Oklahoma City.

Captain Wolfgang Von Gronau guiding a flying boat with three companions radioed Hokkaido’s Obiishi station at 6:35 A M that he flies steadily in dense fog at 1000 meters and expects to touch land within seven hours. His reported position sits midway between the western Aleutians and the eastern Kuriles.
George Walden, foreman of the Terry Thompson ranch 35 miles north of Amarillo, fell 35 feet from the windmill while repairing it. He suffered multiple fractures and chest injuries and was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital by Blackburn Funeral ambulance.
Panhandle Sept 1 no trace of hit and run driver who struck 14 year old Harry Dunlap of Pampa while returning from a Scout camp in New Mexico. The body was found on a highway west of Panhandle with injuries and evidence of dragging 200 yards. Police screened a Buick seen nearby and sought the nervous driver after the incident. The boy's father is Carl Dunlap, a Pampa driller.
W. E. Mount, president of Merchants & Farmers Bank in Ponchatoula Louisiana, fought off two armed bandits who raided his home. The men returned an hour later to kidnap Mount and his two daughters, sparking a street gunfight in which the criminals fled into nearby woods. Officers, a recruited posse and bloodhounds pursued the assailants, who reportedly carried shotguns and a machine gun.
Senator Archie Parr charged oil interests tried to steal the gubernatorial primary from Miriam A. Ferguson amid near 3,000 vote lead for her against Gov. Sterling. The Texas Senate debated referring the probe to a committee, with争 opposition and party conflict shaping the vote.
