70 MPH Winds Hit Amarillo Causing Major Outages
Strong winds near 70 miles per hour struck Amarillo last night causing widespread damage. About 900 homes lost power after a Canyon Expressway blackout began around 11:30 p.m. A roof at the Amarillo Seed House was damaged around 10:45 p.m. and debris fell onto the expressway center divider. A tree limb downed near Wolflin Village substation cut power around 11:15 p.m. Nearby outages occurred around 3rd and Western and a dumpster was hurled into a Continental Trailways Bus.
