A Roy New Mexico woman, 39, Mrs. Gilbert Gonzales, was charged with open murder in the shooting death of O. E. Cooper in Mosquero. Elderly Pair Killed In E-Way Collision
Two people died in a traffic crash in the 6800 block Canyon Expressway near Memorial Davy. Jim N. Hamner aged 69 of Childress and Mary Maude Hightower aged 82 of Melrose New Mexico were pronounced dead at High Plains Baptist Hospital after ambulance transport. Hamner showed signs of life during transfer. Hightower was believed dead at the scene. The collision occurred shortly after 12:30 pm when a pickup was involved.
