London May 30 Associated Press reports the RAF hurled more than 1500 tons of bombs on Wuppertal a key Ruhr arsenal. The raid caused substantial destruction and marked one of the heaviest bombing attacks in the war.
Washington May 30 President Roosevelt may sign a new pay as you go tax bill after four months of debate. The compromise bill trims relief for many taxpayers and aims to raise about 3.006 billion dollars in the upcoming fiscal year. Republicans and Democrats claim partial gains but neither sees a clear victory if the president signs.
