Grand Jury Recalled in Killing of 3 Officers

OCALA FL May 29 P State Atty A P Buie said Marion County grand jury would be recalled to consider the slaying of three police officers at the home of an aged eccentric couple. Edward Lindley 73 and Bertha Lindley 70 were captured after a long gun battle. Deputies killed two officers and Ashst Chief M O Tuck was fatally wounded. Lindley said he fired to attract neighbor Douglas Wingfield who is hard of hearing. Charges of murder to be filed tomorrow and arraignment likely Tuesday.

British radio man freed by China after five years

Hong Kong reports that Robert Webster Ford, a British radio operator arrested by Chinese Communists in 1950 on charges related to a Tibetan priest's death, has crossed into Hong Kong after five years in prison. Two Boys Drown In Plainview Lake

In Plainview, May 29, two boys 11 year old Robert Carl Austin and 8 year old Stewart Denny Austin drowned in a lake on West 17th Street, six blocks from their home. They were sons of Mr and Mrs R C Austin of 1401 Utica. The parents had left them at home to watch television while they drove to deliver a brother. The boys were missing when they returned home about 6 p.m. Their clothes were found at the lake edge as the search began.

Cab Driver Charged With Robbery Attempt In Texas

A 24 year old Amarillo cab driver was jailed in Potter County on charges of attempted robbery by assault of a Fort Worth man and stealing a pickup. Deputies say the driver threatened to kill the man and fled the scene with the vehicle, abandoning it on Tyler Street. The incident followed a daytime beer run and involved the victim hiding money as the driver fled.
