Fire damages Panhandle Supply House in Panhandle
Fire of unknown origin broke out in the basement of the Panhandle Arbor Supply House at 611 Polk Street and caused heavy losses to stock and fixtures. Fire departments saved other stores in the building, with insurance covering about half the value. Three Youths Die in Abilene Rooming House Fire
Abilene Tex May 29 three men died from smoke in a rooming house fire. Eleven others escaped as Harvey Sprinkle 21 Melrose Roy Thomas 28 Abilene and Bernard Love 19 Melrose perished on the second floor sleeping porch. Fire started from an automatic water heater. Mrs Maude Parker operator of the house was rescued and hospitalized after aiding guests. Sprinkle and Love were students at a local business college and Thomas worked at a country club.
