Postmaster General James A. Farley told Panhandle crowds that Roosevelt's New Deal will continue until all objectives are achieved. Marvin Ware twelve year old drowned near Hereford at noon while fishing with his brother Joe eighteen. Unable to assist, Joe notified helpers who dived for nearly thirty minutes before recovering the body and taking it to the hospital for pulmotor. The family includes mother Mrs Sewell Ware WPA sewing room worker and siblings Franklin Gladys Geneva Wanda. Funeral arrangements are pending.
President Roosevelt resumed reception of callers at the White House today but stayed in the living quarters to shake off a lingering head cold. Secretary Morgenthau and Secretary Ickes each attended separate morning conferences.

George F. Baker chairman of the First National Bank of New York was seriously ill after emergency peritonitis surgery aboard his yacht Viking in mid Pacific. Coast Guard cutter Taney raced to relay a physician and surgeon to Baker aboard the Viking. A Canadian ship sent Dr W R Clarke to treat him.
In Washington May 27 Majority Leader Rayburn urged a quick compromise after the House cut relief administrator Harry L Hopkins salary to 10 000 and voted 167 to 85 to lay aside the 1 5 billion relief bill. He proposed cooling off, conferring with Roosevelt, and meeting with Hopkins to reach a victory without defeat. Hopkins earns 12 000, and the House approved 132 to 105 a May proposal for further action.
A dam burst near Tlalpujahua in Michoacan releasing a 3,000,000 ton mud avalanche that buried La Quadrilla and destroyed about one third of the town. Officials say at least 100 are dead with the toll possibly rising to hundreds as rescue work continues.

Colonel W B Roseyear of Birmingham heads a new list of officers for the United States Reserve Officers Association in San Antonio on May 27. The event marks the formal formation of the group with Roseyear leading the roster and regional officers named.
Harold Herzog, a local automobile firm collector, reported a debtor fled Lawton leaving town with his house and recently planted trees to dodge the bill. County Attorney Dwight Malcolm said Herzog had a history of successfully locating debtors, but this case breaks that record slightly.
