Wisconsin will be one of the beautiful suffragettes the US states offer to the Internal Council of the Woman Suffrage Association in Budapest. She will address members the party believe will prove to a European suffragette that there are brains as well as beauty among American women who seek the vote. Mrs Genedict is one of the leaders in Wisconsin and has exerted influence on state legislation.
In Austin a special railroad commission hearing led to a plan for a friendly suit against railroads to determine if unloading freight at Gulf ports is state or interstate shipment and whether the Texas commission has jurisdiction. The action follows railroads’ refusal to absorb loading charges and the commission dropping reduced emergency rates.
Visiting Elks members arrived in Lafayette for the annual state reunion and convention. The first session at Elks Hall featured greetings and organizational work, with a large street parade planned for tomorrow afternoon.
At Fort Dodge Iowa on May 27 the annual state trap shooting tournament of the Iowa Sportsmen Association began with fifty top shooters from across the nation. The three day event features ten events daily with fifteen targets each on opening day.

In St Louis on May 27 Thomas H. Weet chairman of the board of the St Louis Trust Co and B L Winchell president of the St Louis and San Francisco railroad were appointed receivers for the road in federal court. The line faces financial difficulties and operates under court supervision.

William McCarney Tommy Berns and Eddie Smith three promoters of the Pelkey McCarty fight were rearrested in Calgary on manslaughter charges. Pelkey was also rearrested after a preliminary hearing all were bound over for further prosecution.
The Clarendon project at the corner of Kearney and Second streets just south of the post office will be a one story brick structure with fifty foot frontage. Ground clearing starts today for the building owned by B C Britian.
Savannah hosts the Georgia Odd Fellows annual gathering with three days of events for members. The Rebekahs women’s auxiliary will hold their state meeting during the week as an elaborate entertainment program unfolds for visitors.
Ellen Evelyn James of Texas is chosen as the Goddess of Plenty for upcoming U S currency. Artist Kenyon Cox selected her face from several candidates. James is a sculpture student with the Student's Art League in New York City.
In Chattanooga Tennessee May 21 the annual reunion of the Grey Host of the Confederate Veterans opens in a tented city in a downtown park. Gen George F P Hickman calls the Tennessee division to order at 10 am. Rev J W Bachman Gov Hooper and Mayor Thompson welcome veterans and visitors. General Bennett Young responds for the national organization. A parade led by sponsor Miss Kate Daffru of Texas follows.
In Los Angeles on May 27 a grand jury member with the district attorney viewed the Long Beach pier disaster site. The coronner continues to lead the investigation but jurors are to become familiar with the situation.
In a sworn statement before a jury of laborers, Roosevelt declares he was never intoxicated and asserts he did not abstain on any occasion. The remark frames a defiant denial amid ongoing testimony.
Theodore Roosevelt testified in a libel case in Marquette describing his drinking as limited to public meals and occasional wine or champagne. He stated he never became intoxicated and noted a rare year with a few drinks during public duties and an African trip.
