Tornadoes across six states over two days killed at least 115 people and injured more than 700. Kansas reported 79 deaths, Oklahoma 20, Texas 15, Missouri one, with towns like Blackwell Oklahoma and Jes s ieville Arkansas among hardest hit. Rescue efforts continued as mortuaries reported dozens of unidentified bodies.

A tornado struck an isolated mountain logging camp near Hot Springs Arkansas destroying 10 or 12 homes. The funnel then hit the settlement of Blakely northwest of the city and a mile south of Jessieville. Early reports that Jessieville was hit were unfounded. Garland County Sheriff Leonard is reporting details.
The Amarillo Rose Society announces a flower show at the American National Bank building 127 W. 7th. The event runs Saturday 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited, says show chairman R. C. Martini.

In Winfield Kansas two mortuaries held 61 bodies from the Udall tornado夜 victims with more at a Wichita mortuary. Several identifications were partial or missing with names including Mrs Linnie Beal Patricia Boyd and Oran Butcher and ages noted for two infants.
A tornado struck northeastern Santa Catarina in southern Brazil spawning torrential rains and killing at least 22 people with many more injured. Two are missing as medical aid arrives from Florianopolis.
A ten engine B36 bomber on a routine training flight crashed near Sterling City Texas during a violent tornado thunderstorm. Fifteen crew members died with no survivors. Engines were recovered miles away and weather officials suspect the storm as a direct cause.
The Texas House passed a bill abolishing the county attorney office and creating a criminal district attorney post. Governor Allan Shivers is expected to sign and appoint the new district attorney, who will serve until the next general election. The measure faced two readings due to no record vote on initial passage.
Clovis defeated Amarillo 8 to 6 while Plainview topped Pampa 14 to 2. Lubbock won 6 to 4 over Abilene and El Paso lost 3 to 5 to Albuquerque. Philadelphia beat New York 3 to 2 and Brooklyn defeated Pittsburgh 6 to 2. New York edged Washington 8 to 7 as Chicago lost 3 to 9 to Cleveland. Baltimore shutout Boston 2 to 0 with Detroit at Kansas City rained out.
