River Flood Intesifies Amid Severe Weather Damage

At 7:52 p m the northeast city edge stood 14 feet above normal with 20 feet water flooding Highway 177 and a further six feet expected after a 5 inch rainfall. The Weather Bureau warned of more thunderstorms while Blackwell continued rescue and recovery in the ruined residential area. Official counts list 18 dead and over 500 injured with patients in hospitals from Alva to Woodward.

Tornado Damages Logging Camp Near Hot Springs

A tornado struck an isolated mountain logging camp near Hot Springs Arkansas destroying 10 or 12 homes. The funnel then hit the settlement of Blakely northwest of the city and a mile south of Jessieville. Early reports that Jessieville was hit were unfounded. Garland County Sheriff Leonard is reporting details.

Flower Show Set At American Bank

The Amarillo Rose Society announces a flower show at the American National Bank building 127 W. 7th. The event runs Saturday 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited, says show chairman R. C. Martini.
