House Okays Cut in Tariffs
Washington May 26 The House approved expanding executive power to cut tariffs in reciprocal trade with other nations by 239 to 153. The bill would extend the reciprocal trade act three years and allow tariff cuts up to 75 percent below Hawley Smoot levels, sending the measure to the Senate. Only 13 Democrats crossed to support the GOP motion to send it back to committee.

New Red Stamps Valid On Friday
Washington May 26 five more red stamps for meats and fats and five blue for processed foods will become valid June 1 OPA announced today. The red coupons are Y2 through Z2 the blue D1 through H1. Both series in Ration Book Four will be good through Sept 30. OPA also reminded these stamps will not be good after June 2 Red Y5 275 and A2 through D2 Blue H through M2 and Sugar Coupon No 35.

Arrest Youths in Series of Auto Thefts

Japs Flanked On Luzon Raid
American 25th Division outflanked the Japanese held Santa Fe road junction in northern Luzon to enter the Cagayan valley. U S planes bombed the park airdrome at the valley entrance, inflicting extensive damage from 450 tons of bombs.
