Delegates register at the Hilton Hotel and Legion Home with a Sunday luncheon and a Gold Star parents program. W F Nix Amarillo will give the principal address as state adjutant Ted Young attends. a memorial service is planned at the First Christian Church led by Rev. W P Jennings.
May 26 in Dumas crowds from Dalhart and Amarillo pack the old settlers celebration. Delegations numbered 96 and 104 cars respectively, with Dalhart claiming population heft. The parade stretched about four miles and featured over 200 horses, reflecting a lively oil and gas boom era interest.

The Hank Smith Blanco Canyon celebration set August 17 and 18 with officers named and a July planning meeting.
Gov. W. Lee O’Daniel granted stays of execution for Ladell Rhodes who was to be electrocuted at Huntsville after midnight and for Rafe Lee Walker who faced execution on May 30.

Morgenthau urged latitude to issue more bonds and signaled possible future removal of debt limits. Treasury plans to detail tax views to the House Ways and Means Committee tomorrow amid talks to abolish the undistributed profits tax. Public debt stood at $40,240,436,500 as of May 24.
In Amarillo Mayor Ross D. Rogers proclaims today as Poppy Day as volunteers from the American Legion Auxiliary offer lapel poppies to raise funds for World War I veterans in U S Veterans Hospitals. Donations are welcome in any amount and proceeds support incapacitated veterans nationwide.

Postmaster General James A. Farley presents Dynamite the horse to his 11 year old son James A. Farley Jr. at a Washington stables. The boy, at Cornwall on the Hudson Military Academy, will take the horse back with him next year and is thrilled by the birthday surprise. Farley delayed a cabinet meeting to visit the stables before heading to the White House.
