Two Dead and Two Missing in Woodward Mine Blast
In Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania on May 26 two miners died and two are missing after a roof fall and subsequent explosion at the Woodward mine of Glen Alden Coal. Fire destroys shack near apartment house under construction
A workmen's shack near the Talmadge apartments at Fourteenth and Van Buren streets burned yesterday afternoon. The main building, nearing completion, was not damaged except for scorched window panes on the first and second stories. the structure is fireproof throughout according to officials.

The Associated Press reports Bernice Raspberry 23 alias Ed Lively from Jasper Texas was taken from Leakesville jail by about 100 men and lynched. Deputy Sheriff A H Harvison said Raspberry was arrested at Leaf on a board bill beating charge and that the sheriff said he was wanted at Bothwell for alleged improper conduct with a white woman.
