In Seattle on May 25 UP reports engineer S A Larson while hacking a switch engine found the rear of the locomotive had sunk four feet into the ground. He said a section crew had removed track without informing him. No one was hurt in the freak accident.

US 66 detoured Sayre Oklahoma with bridge area in good condition. US 142 closed between Laketon and Junction and between Pampa and Skellytown. US 291 closed between Lefors and Alan Verd.

About ten thousand workers at Chrysler’s Dodge main plant in Detroit were idled when 66 final assembly men refused to wear work smocks. They demanded coveralls. after smocks were issued, they walked out. The walkout forced 1000 other employees in the auto body department home. Two union stewards were fired.
Tee Cox of Water Resources Development Corporation of America will present an illustrated talk on Panhandle rain increase at 10 in Municipal Auditorium. The firm, active in New Mexico Colorado and the Texas Oklahoma Panhandle, promotes silver iodide cloud seeding and will screen films. Amarillo Chamber of Commerce sponsors with no admission charged. ranchers and farmers across West Texas invited.
Powell Wyoming May 25 A Garland Wyoming potato dealer estimates Wyoming and Nebraska acreage will be cut by one third due to lack of price supports. James A Hart dumped 125000 pounds into Bitter Creek near Powell this week because there was no market. Hart blamed no marketing agreement and grain processing equipment for not using potatoes for alcohol.
Charles Boston, son of Mr and Mrs P T Boston, has enlisted in the United States Air Force. He departed Amarillo this week for Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 1944 Shamrock High School graduate, he embarks on military service.
KGNC 30 AM lineup lists Charlie Crudgington Gordon Suits Wes Izzard Morgan Beatty NBC anchors and Bob Izzard. Prime time includes NBC News at 11:00 PM and 11:55 PM local reports.
