Funeral for John Wilber Houck Held in Amarillo
Funeral services for John Wilber Houck prominent Amarillo businessman and president of the Amarillo Baking Company were held today at 4 PM at the N S Griggs & Son chapel. Dr C Grimes officiated burial took place in Llano Cemetery pallbearers named were John K Boyce Clyde Smith Ed K Ross Jack Farwell Lou Smith and Harry Hatch. Houck died Tuesday after a heart attack survived by wife two sons Robert D and Hoyt all of Amarillo three brothers Frank C N and Harry and three sisters Mrs Gambreil Mrs Rush and Mrs Powers.

P J Wooldridge president of J C Wooldridge Lumber Co suffered a fractured knee cap and head injuries after rear ending H C Gaither whose car was stalled. Gaither uninjured. Heavy hail damaged areas around Sixteenth Jackson Wolflin and Bivins. Weather was localized and did not reach Washburn.

A consignment of 23 head of cattle bred in Texas and fed since last September on August A. Busch Jr.’s St Peters Missouri farm sold for 10.25 a hundredweight at the national stockyards in East St. Louis Illinois. The cattle averaged about 1274 pounds and were one and two years old. Nearby prime beef cattle sold around 9.50 with some at 10 in recent weeks.
