Huntsville Felon Fatally Stabbed in Prison Chapel
Alton Crowson a prisoner at the state penitentiary in Huntsville was stabbed to death with a homemade dirk during a Sunday morning motion picture in the chapel. Warden Ward said the suspect remained unidentified as guards secure the darkened area after the attack. Crowson of China Springs was serving 33 years for robbery theft and driving while intoxicated with 10 counts from four counties.

Legislature Moves to Curb Livestock Slaughter by Dogs
Austin May 22 The Legislature acts to stop dog slaughter of valuable livestock. A bill allows counties by local option to require dog registration at $1 and to pen dogs at night. Senator Davis cites Brown County losses exceeding $20,000 in one year and poison meat methods may be used to kill dangerous dogs.

Closed Valve Blamed in Dumas Plant Explosion
M. F. Adkins aged 32 died from burns after a Dumas gas plant explosion officials suspect a closed pressure valve on a turbine caused excessive tank pressure. Soviets Establish North Pole Camp After Second Polar Flight
Moscow reports that the Soviet expedition encamped at the North Pole and confirmed Friday's landing seven men was its second polar flight. Pilot Pavel Golovin flew May 5 from Rudolf Island, five hours to the pole, aiding the May 21 landing plan. A snowstorm halted further flights while camp and runways were prepared.
