Tom B. Stowe a 49 year old former state ranger was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Alvin Marshall a 27 year old farmer. Stowe testified he shot in a fit of anger after his home was disrupted and his appeal was announced. His wife and daughter sobbed as the verdict was read and his wife mortgaged her home to fund the defense.

Bank Cashier Robbery Yields 10000 In West Virginia
Three bandits held up a bank cashiers automobile in Wheeling on May 23 and escaped with ten thousand dollars. The loot was pulled from Citizens' Mutual Bank of Wheeling and taken toward a Benwood bank by J. W. Johnson, cashier of the destination bank. The money was split into two bags, five thousand dollars in currency and five thousand dollars in silver.

DUMAS May 23 Special to The News Moore county plans a June 22 bond election to issue 150000 for a new courthouse and 250000 for paving the Texas Oklahoma Colorado highway. The highway would run near the present railroad route minus Moore county southern bypass. A new modern courthouse will replace the aging frame building from the 1890s. Plans include incorporating Dumas and launching public improvements.
