Three More Passenger Trains To Quit In Texas

Gen Ernest O Thompson supplied Railroad Commission orders approving the discontinuance of three passenger trains in Texas. The Texas and New Orleans Railway will abandon Nos 17 and 18 Dallas to Houston and Nos 5 and 6 between Houston and El Paso. The Katy will stop Nos 21 and 22 between Waco and Denison via Fort Worth. The three services caused over 384000 dollars in losses last year. Thompson noted lack of ridership despite air conditioned equipment.

Ikard Presses for Tougher Oil Import Controls

In Long Beach California May 22 a triple disaster struck the Signal Hill Hancock Oil refinery. Explosions ignited huge tanks of crude oil gasoline and naphtha sending a burning flood through the plant. At least two men died and several workers were injured amid a chaotic rush to escape the blaze.
