Lindbergh Honored in Paris as He Reaches Embassy

Capt. Charles A. Lindbergh woke in the American embassy to praise from Paris as crowds cheered his Atlantic flight. He called his mother in Detroit by private line, then met Ambassador Herrick before receiving visits from Paul Claudel and other dignitaries.

Chief Takes Action In Amarillo Drug Store Robbery Case

Bob Harmon a longtime Amarillo Police member was discharged by Chief Gaither for neglect of duty after a midnight hold up at Fox Drug Co 500 N Fillmore. The robbery involved a masked bandit who looted over 200 dollars while Harmon reportedly failed to intervene as the suspects escaped in a Ford coupe later found abandoned near the Rock Island roundhouse.

Former AP Head Robert T. Gu Found Dead in Hotel

Washington May 22 Robert T Gu a renowned newspaperman and former AP southern division superintendent was found dead in bed at a hotel in Washington today authorities reported. The case and circumstances were not immediately clarified.

Three Die as Train Strikes Auto Near Monrovia

A Pacific Electric train hit an automobile near Monrovia California killing Reverend S F Heilman S R Lehman and Zilpah Bartholomew 16 of Chino and injuring four others from Chino including Fred 20 Ellsworth 13 and Stanley 21 all taken to Monrovia hospital The car occupants were en route to a Pasadena church The impact occurred at about 20 mph with an unobstructed crossing and no fault found for Heilman driving into the street car

British consul at Chinkiang withdrawn

The British consul at Chinkiang has been withdrawn and all consulate archives removed. Rear Admiral Tyrwhitt, head of British naval forces in China, has arrived. Japanese destroyers Hinoki and Yanagi were fired upon near Kiangyin by forces from both riverbanks. the Yanagi returned fire and silenced attackers with no damage to either ship.

Pinedo Delays Azores Flight to Monday Morning

N F Trepauxs ey May 22 Commander Francesco de Pinedo Italian four continent flyer postponed his Azores flight due to prep difficulties. He now plans to start between 2 and 4 A M Monday. The delay followed a slow harbor tow for his plane and a fuel shortage delaying preflight work.

Police hunt for Black attacker who dragged girl in Houston

Houston police comb the south end after a 13 year old girl Vera Phillips was dragged from a car by a Black man. He struck her companion Oscar Foster who intervened. Bloodhounds, search teams, and city forces worked late Sunday night to locate the suspect.

American Consul Linard Dies in Eagle Pass

Dres Linard aged 69 American consul at Piedras Negras Mexico died at his home in Eagle Pass Texas after a lingering illness with Brights disease He served in consular work 20 years at various Central American posts and became consul at Piedras Negras four years ago from Canada A retired army colonel he will be buried here on Monday.

Mills Blast Shakes Scranton Area. No Injuries Reported

Windows shattered in numerous homes as two Du Pont mills at Moosic plant exploded early today near Scranton. The blast traveled as far as 20 miles and hurled residents from beds while a spark from automatic machinery is blamed for igniting the powder. No casualties reported.

Severe Earthquake Recorded by Loyola Seismograph

An extremely severe quake was registered by Loyola Universitys seismograph in New Orleans with first tremor at 4:52 p.m. and maximum intensity at 5:30 p.m. The epicenter direction remained undetermined. A separate message notes a giant earthquake about 7,500 to 7,300 miles from Washington recorded by Georgetown University seismograph.
