Assistant cashier Mrs Sarah French was alone in the Nara Visa bank yesterday when three bandits robbed the bank forcing her to lie on the floor. Cashier Jim Burns had stepped out on an errand moments earlier and later incidents in the bank’s history involved him as a hostage. Burns, previously cited as a hostage in prior holdups, is noted as stepping into a higher role as bank president.
Three young men robbed the First National Bank of Nara Visa of 1011 dollars at gunpoint. The crime occurred about 2 50 PM and sparked a multi state manhunt using planes and ground units. Police chased a black or dark green Ford sedan toward Clayton as winds hindered aerial search.

A rare northern tornado swept the U S Canadian border injuring and killing residents in Sarnia Port Huron and Southwestern Ontario. Seven dead reported with several identified names as rescue crews search debris. The storm damaged railcars and buildings forcing urgent aid requests across Ontario and into Toronto weather bureau updates.
