Striking Drivers Uncertified says Firm’s Attorney
Twenty drivers of the Transport Company of Texas continued picketing the firm after the discharge of D M Smith. The drivers, members of Local 577 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, joined Monday. The company attorney said the union had not been certified by the NLRB and no certification application had been filed. Smith, acting spokesman, claimed the discharge was retaliation for union activity and that organizing was completed Monday.
