In Austin on May 19 the Texas Senate placed on the table a resolution calling for adjournment on May 30, introduced by Ben Clint C. Small of Amarillo who plans to call it from the table Monday. The House killed a resolution urging legislators to go home Wednesday. The Senate passed a House bill to allow the penitentiary to make license plates and highway markers, and sent it to the House for concurrence. The Legislature sent to the governor a bill to cover a rural school aid deficit of 1.619 million dollars. The Graves-Woodruff plan for state government reorganization was set for Senate special order Wednesday. The Senate also passed a House bill to levy a 2.50 hearse fee on barriers and approved reducing convict discharge pay from 50 to 25 dollars for sentences under one year. Several House bills were tabled subject to call, including higher tuition fees at state colleges and curbs on wildflower gathering without landowner consent. The Senate refused to table a House bill to abolish the gas utilities ready-to-serve charge.
