A head on collision between train No. 7 and a northbound freight near Kouns Texas left fireman Chris Beek dead and engineer Ed Hammond and another freight engineer injured. About twenty others were hurt including Capt. J H Rogers United States Marshal and Dr W R Simcock. The crash caused by a possible orders misunderstanding and victims were taken to Manchaca and local hospitals.
