The 83rd Congress extended thirty nine of forty five emergency powers through July 1 1953 leaving six to expire. Extensions followed earlier actions after World War II and the Korean War emergency proclamations.

A Texas House and Senate ready a compromise bill creating the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority. Conferees signed the measure to remove federal ownership after cost repayment. The bill keeps water rights in the state and reverts facilities to the district after repayment.
Tornado like winds and heavy rain lash Texas and Louisiana killing four and displacing about 1500 families. Flooding threatens Calcasieu and Red Rivers as a line of squalls moves along the coast from Texas to Mississippi with rain through Tuesday and gusts over 80 miles per hour in spots.
The Amarillo city commission authorized Rittenberry & Rittenberry to design a west and south expansion of the air terminal. Plans include larger waiting areas dining room and restrooms with expanded ticket counters for Pioneer Airline Central Airline and new airport agencies. U S Weather Bureau also requests more office space. City Manager N V Moss notes the project aims to boost public space and facilities.
