Officials warned of Leroy's cunning as Panhandle yields are projected to hit 22,000,000 bushels of wheat this year. Grain dealers' association reports the greatest crop since 1919, with optimism rising across the Panhandle.
Officers of the Panhandle Grain Growers Association were unanimously re-elected led by president C. R. Silay. The group approved a 1927 meeting in Amarillo and a resolution opposing Haugen-Teicher farm relief bills. Joes Smith spoke on wheat pricing and urged local shippers to arrange financing before sending grain to Gulf ports.
Potter County officers take precautions to hold a man after issuing a warning. A guard cordon surrounds the jail as a security measure while authorities monitor the situation and prepare for possible action.

San Antonio will join San Angelo by rail as a major Southwest development. W. D. Holcomb, mayor of San Angelo, said the link with San Antonio and the port of Corpus Christi is a key goal, supported by civic and industrial leaders at the National Oil Scouts convention in San Antonio.
L G Cooper 65 manager of the Texas Monument company of San Marcos died when his automobile overturned three miles north of Devine. The driver was killed today in the crash. The incident occurred near Devine on May 17. Cooper was a local businessman. Local authorities investigated the fatal crash.
Amarillo police reported a weekend robbery at the Pierce Filling station on Taylor Street. Thieves pried the front door with a crowbar, seized a 350 pound iron safe containing about 30 dollars in cash and papers valued at around 3000 dollars, and fled in an awaiting car. Tracks led away as investigators sought clues. owner J E Allison warned of potential losses if papers aren’t recovered.
Amarillo city leaders back raising the Board of City Development budget from 24000 to 13000 a year and plan to hold more meetings to attract industries. Mayor Bivins cites refinery interest and per capita spending as justification for aggressive expansion efforts.

In Juarez Octavia Miracles aged 18 was shot by J Antonio Areyo during a public dance event. She was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries and condition remained grave as authorities subdued the assailant.
Amarillo building permits for the year pass four and a half million after new filings including the Oliver Rea ten story project. Wichita Falls trails with about 4.29 million while Amarillo nears the half million in a single day. New permits list several frame and brick dwellings with costs from a few hundred to ten thousand dollars.

Cornelius Hartwell, 71, died at 301 West Fourth Street likely of heart trouble. funeral plans pending relatives’ word. Five jurors were selected in the Earl Collins bank robbery trial in San Antonio involving a $19 138 heist at the San Antonio National Bank. The 7th District Court adjourned with 400 veniremen exhausted and 200 talesmen to report tomorrow amid changes in the venire size. Some veniremen were excused over eligibility and possible death penalty implications.

A jailed James A. Leroy faces heightened security after a woman in custody implicated him and two associates in robberies at Amarillo Panhandle and White Deer. She claimed Leroy planned more safe cracking and hinted at an attempted jail breakout to exact revenge.
