Hawkins Funeral Set Friday Here
Final rites for Millard F. Hawkins an Amarillo resident since 1907 will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Blackburn Shaw Memorial Chapel with Rev. Stanley YD Letcher officiating. Burial follows in Llano Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Malinda, a son O S Hawkins of Fort Worth, three daughters and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Louis Weber, a numbers racket figure, was convicted of perjury for lying to the Kefauver Senate Crime Committee about his relations with James J. Moran. Heavy rains and missing owners forced cancellation of the Ryan Navion aircraft owner clinic at Amarillo Air Terminal. Navion agent Dick Flenniken said the clinic will be rescheduled. Three Navion factory inspectors were on hand to service planes flown in during the two days. The inspectors have been touring the state with clinics. Forest fires threaten when they spread rapidly.

Mystery Shooting Reported in Alley Behind Polk Street
A woman in a dress shop reported a pistol shot in the alley behind the 600 block of Polk yesterday afternoon. She saw officers detain a tall young man. a police officer, later identified as a department member, claimed no knowledge of the incident. Officials from the police department, sheriff, funeral homes, hospitals, and nearby retailers denied awareness of the shooting.
