Student Pilot Injured In Plane Crash Near Amarillo
John Peter Zimmer, a student in the advanced Civilian Pilot Training course, was injured yesterday afternoon when his Ryan monoplane crashed about six miles northeast of Amarillo. He suffered a broken collarbone, leg injury, and head cuts, and was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital in stable condition. Civil Aeronautics Bureau inspectors headed to Amarillo to investigate the crash in the wheat field near the Allison school. This marks the first injury in the government flying school’s two year history here, which has educated over a hundred primary and several dozen advanced students without a serious accident. Zimmer, formerly a WTSC student at Canyon, had come to Amarillo for the advanced course.

Third Victim Dies In Childress Wreck
Harold Smith a 19 year old Childress resident died in a local hospital Thursday afternoon becoming the third victim of a two car highway crash last Sunday on Highway 287 two miles west of Childress. Weldon Poling 17 and Emma Dean Jackson 16 were killed instantly in the crash. C R Thornton the driver of the car Smith was in was charged with negligent homicide.

Navy pilots save trapped lieutenant in midair rescue
In San Diego on May 15 Navy Lieut W W Lowrey and aviation machinist mate J R McCants performed a daring rescue of Marine Lieut Walter S Osipoff who dangled head first for 80 minutes after a parachute became fouled. Lowrey drove a Hell Diver bomber to 20 feet of the other plane and slashed the shrouds with the propeller while McCants pulled Osipoff into the cockpit. Osipoff, conscious but injured, may have a broken arm. The rescue is described as possibly the most remarkable aviation feat and the men were recommended for commendation and possible decoration.
