Birdie Wrack Wins Seventh At Tri-State Fair Meets Big Purses

After seven days of thrilling races the Tri-State Fair's Spring Race meeting ends this afternoon with anticipated record one day attendance. Birdie Wrack delivered yesterday's biggest payoff at 24.30 for a win as favorites also starred. Races begin 2 PM with ten events at 30 minute intervals featuring three purses of 200 and one 100. Four horses changed owners via claiming routes.

Man with no flight time lands plane at Alameda police

Joseph Andrew Callahan a 39 year old ex-soldier who says he was unwillingly piloting a small plane made a wild unplanned flight over the San Francisco Bay air field before bringing the craft down near police headquarters. The craft suffered minor damage and owner Myrton Johnston prepared a complaint charging him with tampering with an airplane.

A Jericho girl aged 7 was badly injured and her father also seriously hurt in a truck and car meet incident in Groom Area. Investigators are sorting cause as first responders treated the victims on scene.

Six injured in head-on crash near Groom on Route 66

A sedan carrying the Jericho family Mary Lee, Jimmy, Neal Henry and their parents collided with an oil truck driven by B L Wood of Tulsa two miles east of Groom. Mary Lee seven suffered severe facial injuries. Barney Henry and his wife sustained deep lacerations and serious cuts. The three Henry children were all hurt. All victims were transported to Worley Hospital in Pampa for X rays. condition of Mary Lee described as critical.

Fugitive Pair Back in Jail Near Carrizozo

Sheriff A F McCamant captured two fugitives near White Oaks New Mexico and identified them as C W French and Sam Lee Frazier. They escaped from Levelland Texas jail early Tuesday by lowering from the fourth floor on a blanket rope. They admitted their identities and will be held for Texas officers. Both were serving two year sentences and fled after abandoning their car.

Nine Officers Stand Guard Over Traxler

3000 Pupils Reenact Texas Eras In Huge Pageant

Amarillo Men in Jail Over Bond Default in Robbery Case
