Washington May 14 AP The Eisenhower administration imposed a secrecy order on a January 21 meeting attended by Sherman Adams and Atty Gen Brownell to discuss Army troubles with McCarthy and to keep a written record. Democrats on the Army Investigations subcommittee demanded fuller testimony and possible call of top officials. The order, attributed to Defense head Robert Anderson, drew White House silence and prompted probes for written clarification from Army counsel Joseph Welch.
Amarillo shows 121 of 134 sunlit days in 1954. Comparable readings at 3 PM list Houston Dallas Oklahoma City Amarillo with wind speeds of 4 mph to 22 mph and visibility around 10 to 15 miles. Conditions range from clear to scattered and broken clouds.
General Twining leads Armed Forces Day events at Amarillo with a 10 30 AM parade from Fourth and Buchanan to Polk. Speakers include Twining and Eubank. A luncheon at the Herring Hotel and open house at AAFB follow. Various military units and school bands participate.

Washington May 14 AP The United States and France will hold high level talks within days to outline conditions under which Allied forces might intervene in Indochina. The talks aim to answer France’s urgent request for information. Neither side says France has asked for direct intervention nor that the U.S. is committed. Secretary Dulles characterized his Indochina positions as American policy, not a personal view, and said Eisenhower would decide with Congress if France meets the outlined conditions.
A detailed timetable lists multiple aircraft flyovers including T-28, PV-2, T-33, F-86 F, B-47, B-36, B-29 and F-94 C over the city and AAFB plus parade moves from Fourth and Buchanan to Polk and dispersal between 12th and 14th. Gen Nathan Twining and Maj Gen Eugene Eubank are slated speakers.

Farm owners in Randall and Potter counties voted unanimously to form a soil conservation district. The area covers all of Randall, parts of Potter west of Amarillo and south of the Canadian Breaks, and east of Amarillo south of the Borger Branch rail line. About 30 farmers met with state board representatives S J Payne and O F Armstrong who outlined district objectives and next steps. Election of landowners will be called soon, and Marshall Rockwell of Canyon was chosen election superintendent.
