Earl Calloway, state inspector, presents his estimate of 120 producers in a report to Austin officials. The figure reflects inquiries into local industry activity and regulatory oversight.
State oil inspector Bart Calloway reports the Panhandle oil field averaging 25 016 barrels per day from 120 wells. He notes 264 wells drilling with 40 new sites last week and projects 75 000 barrels daily if current wells continue. County figures show Hutchinson at 21 000 barrels from 74 wells, Carson 2 183 from 35, Gray 247 from 6, Wheeler 92 from 6, Potter and others with limited or unknown production.
Rain from Thursday night into Friday morning measured near one inch in Amarillo, with half to three quarters of an inch in the northern Panhandle and parts of New Mexico and Oklahoma. Light sprinkles began late Thursday, intensifying after 3 am and peaking about 5 am, with showers reported along several rail lines and towns including Perryton Spearman Canyon Hereford Clovis and Vega.

Louisville buzzed with townsfolk and visitors as seventeen top three year olds prepared for the fifty second Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. The city teemed with theater crowds and hotel gatherings while roads, trains, and boats funneled spectators toward the turf classic tomorrow afternoon.
A May 14 furlough granted former Dallas state senator E A Decherd by Governor Miriam A Ferguson. He faced six years for forgery in one case and six and a half years in another. The proclamation lists pardons paroles furloughs and remissions to others and notes the action aims to arrange support for Decherds family.
Del Rio Texas May 14 Dr J T Holland 53 of Three Rivers was found dead at Bakers Crossing on Devl s river today. The incident prompted an investigation into the death with officials on site. Police noted Holland had been missing since yesterday and his body was discovered by local residents along the riverbank.
The Panhandle chamber of commerce votes to enlarge its board from fifteen to about fifty and launches an intensive development drive aimed at promoting the city and the oil field. New and old directors convened, with weekly meetings and emphasis on paving an oilfield highway.
One of the largest liquor hauls in the Panhandle occurred when Sheriff Wiley Pollard and four deputies found between 400 and 600 gallons of corn whiskey buried in 60 gallon barrels seven miles west of Pantex in Hutchinson county. Two men and one woman were jailed in Borger on possession charges after deputies guarded the site through the night.
In La Grange Texas on May 14 1930 Mrs Ella Jones was charged with murder in the shooting death of railroad depot agent C L P Jones. Banks is alleged to have fired the shots from a screen door while Jones read inside. The couple had money troubles and Jones carried heavy insurance. both Mrs Jones and Banks have been in custody since Monday.
Frank Adrien of Dallas representing American Book company spoke after posting 2500 dollar bond on a bribery charge involving Thomas J. Voe of Brownsville related to school textbooks. Adrien denied involvement and urged delay of judgment until facts are revealed.
President Coolidge signed measures authorizing a Texas Coahuila Bridge Company project to bridge the Rio Grande between Eagle Pass Texas and Piedras Negras Mexico. He also allowed Moss Harris and Shattuck to bridge the Red River between Texas and Oklahoma on the ninety eighth meridian.

Mr and Mrs John Jane aged travelers plan a cross country motor tour starting in Amarillo after arriving from Longfield California. They will drive to North Duliepta then on to Washington. They stay a month with Postmaster W C Kenyon, whose sister is Mrs Jane.
Reports from Berlin say Pilsudski has taken control of Warsaw after marching in with a small force and that Belvedere Palace and the cabinet have fled. Conflicting dispatches describe clashes at the city gates between Pilsudski forces and General Haller loyalists as rail service is cut within sixty miles of the capital.
Mike H H Thomas of Dallas named president of the Texas Christian convention by the nominating committee. He will succeed Mary Rogers of San Antonio with Edwin C Boynton named vice chairman and Rev Paw J Merrill as secretary treasurer. The convention meets in Pallas through Sunday. Meanwhile Louisville is picked as the next convention city and relief board reports are considered.
Two Horse Oil and Refining Company workers died when their oil field truck overturned on a rain slick hill south of Corsicana near the city lake. Driver and helper, both about twenty seven, were pinned under the vehicle. bodies held at a local undertaking establishment awaiting relatives.
