Federal charges allege Edward Lee Dull 39 abducted 22 year old University of Pennsylvania graduate student Anne Kathryn Jenkins with an unnamed female accomplice, after her father paid a $10 000 ransom. Jenkins was released in Baltimore. Dull has prior arrests dating back to 1950.
Amarillo housewife Mrs Bill Melson says her dog was mistreated by Animal Control Authority personnel and will present a protest at the Center board meeting on May 21. She left her small dog with neighbors while away, and a woman called the pound to locate the owner.
President Nixon urged Congress to switch to a random lottery for the draft aimed at 19 year olds to reduce disruption in lives. The plan preserves college deferments and keeps a four year plus potential fifth deferment, shifting from a seven year vulnerability period to a one year window.
