The United States Senate passed a billion dollar navy expansion measure to build the most powerful fleet in history. The Navy said it hopes to begin work almost immediately on 46 new fighting ships 26 auxiliaries and 950 planes authorized by the bill.

In Plainview area Monroe Fields family suffered when hail ruined 170 acres of wheat at six pm. A fire at 2:30 am destroyed their house and contents while saving two children. Fourteen injuries included William Fields with both bones in his left arm broken after fleeing the blaze. Eighty baby chicks perished in a suspected brooder fire.

Memorial Fund Nears Half Complete for Goodnight Grave Marker
