Trucker Killed By Eastbound Santa Fe Freight In Amarillo
A 47 year old Amarillo man Dave H Hamblen died when he drove his Ford onto the south tracks of the double crossing and was struck by an eastbound Santa Fe freight traveling about 45 mph. Witnesses said Hamblen stopped on the south side and pulled into the path as the freight approached, dragging his car and body 400 yards. The incident occurred near Washington Street at 7 pm and left the track damaged.

Federal court wrapped up arguments at 6 last night in the case against four men accused of taking cigarets from a Santa Fe box car near Pampa last February and selling them in Amarillo. Clarence Wilson pleaded guilty and aided the theft. Lamar Smith Rex Smith and Tom Rasmussen stood trial. King Burk’s charges were dropped when a government witness said Burk helped move the cigarets but did not know they were stolen. Judge James C Wilson will charge the jury early Monday morning. Max Weitzman was sentenced to 14 months for perjury in bond paperwork. The jury found him guilty Friday.

George Phillip Ramsey aged 26 died after leaping from the seventh floor of the Rule Building on Polk Street. The coroner Justice J W Minter ruled death by own action.
