A misattributed prize head, a fourth largest pronghorn, vanished from the New Mexico State Game Department basement after being delivered from Anthony owner R. Q. Colquin. The crate was recovered with the head intact, found by Capitol custodian Neo Torres after trash worker Elidio Padilla had taken it home thinking it was empty. The head was returned and secured awaiting Colquin.

Texas financier Billie Sol Estes faces fraud charges amid criticism of Agriculture Department handling and possible broader political fallout.
Texas Shriners in a unit parade wowed an early evening crowd along Palk Street and East 6th, East 10th, and Pierce. Eleven temples participated with drum and bugle units, bands, horse and motor patrols, and a variety of clowns riding scooters and a four passenger bicycle.
