Wild horse dies en route to Hollywood Park during air transport

A two year old Mexican horse named Joselito died in Long Beach after a rough flight from Mexico City to Hollywood Park. Veterinarian Dr Everett Siemar said the animal kicked itself to death during the journey, which included a stop in El Paso where it was briefly tranquilized. Captain C A Ryan of American Airlines called the trip one of his roughest.

Janitor´s morale down after belt fails during break-in

Louis D Angelo, a janitor, told police a burglar broke into storage bins in a basement apartment building. He said he nearly captured the intruder but his belt failed and his trousers slipped to his knees during the struggle.

Miss Mary H. McDonald 80 Dies After Illness in Amarillo

Miss Mary H. McDonald aged 80 died last night at Northwest Texas Hospital after a brief illness. She lived in Amarillo 38 years at 1118 B Van Buren with her twin sister Mrs. W. H. Kimbrough. Survivors include brother Dr. Pinkey McDonald of St. Petersburg Florida and nieces Mrs. Mary K. Harty, Mrs. W. T. Rutledge, and Miss Willie Kimbrough, plus nephew Harris Kimbrough of Amarillo. Southwestern Bell Rejects Union Counter Offer in Strike

In St Louis on May 11 Southwestern Bell rejected as fantastic a union counter proposal ending a 35 day strike in five states. The union demanded a flat 6 a week wage increase and cuts in exchange classifications while the company warned the cost would be 13.65 per week per employee. The company had already rejected a separate wage offer for thousands of workers. About 42 000 are on strike in Missouri Arkansas Kansas Oklahoma and Texas.
