In Wellington on May 10 Eldon Hinton, 18, was found guilty of murder without malice in the death of his father after a gun struggle. The jury sentenced him to five years in the penitentiary with recommendation that the sentence be suspended. District Judge A J Fires granted the request as Hinton wept with his mother and sister present. Court continues with Fred Allred on the criminal docket and Quail’s case for John Daves’ killing at a filling station set to open May 17.
A blaze starting in a cleaning shop destroyed Hotel Kilgore causing about 100000 in damage. Mrs. C R Johnson suffered severe burns from fumes near a boiler while Mr and Mrs Jack Warren were burned escaping from the second floor. Fire units from Henderson Gladewater and Longview aided.

In New York on May 104 Edward A. Ridley 88 founder of a major department store and his secretary Lee Weinstein 45 were found slain in Ridley’s East Side garage sub cellar office. Both victims had skulls crushed. no robbery signs. The case echoes a 1931 killing in the same office.
