Second Auto Victim In Two Days Suffers Serious Injuries
T F Amos of the Lumbergreen apartments in the smelter district was struck near United States smelter by a Rivomobile driven by a mail carrier Letsinger on Northwest Fifteenth street. He was taken to Northwest Texas hospital with a broken hip several fractured ribs and severe cuts and bruises. Authorities report a rigid anti reckless driving campaign is planned following the two day string of accidents.

Texarkana's Former Sheriff Faces Three Charges
Former Texarkana Arkansas Sheriff A. J. Gurley was jailed on three indictments for embezzlement and grand larceny. The charges allege he bought cotton last fall and took the sale proceeds of about 40 bales for himself. Gurley disappeared after the alleged acts and was captured in Alexandria. He left office in 1921 after a four-year term and previously was convicted of embezzling $83,000 and sentenced to five years, later pardoned after two years served.

Maneuver planes arrive in El Paso
Nine teen planes of the United States air force from San Diego landed here shortly before dusk. The fliers will spend the night here and take off in the morning for the east to engage in maneuvers of the war bombardment groups. The planes left San Diego this morning, stopped at Tucson, Ariz., to refuel, and arrived here at 5:30 p. m.

Forest fire rages in Arizona mountains
A wildfire in the Patagonia range near Nogales spread rapidly on May 10 as high winds fanned flames started when a miner dropped a carbide lamp. About 100 firefighters, plus fifty additional volunteers, worked through the day to control the blaze threatening timbered hills and brushy areas.

Six bloodstained kerchiefs found on Harvard student

Twins Riot Proves Puzzle to Chicago Cop on Call

Oklahoma City May 10 J W Clark of the state supreme court was acquitted by the senate court on 10 of 11 impeachment charges brought by the house. The remaining charge was dismissed. Navy flier Apollo Soucek sets new world altitude record
Lieut Apollo Soucek of the Navy reached a true altitude of 39 140 feet in a biplane over the naval air station on Wednesday. The barograph in the plane was calibrated at the Bureau of Standards and the National Aeronautic Association recognized the mark as a new world altitude record.
