Delmar Miller of Plains Aero Service challenged Amarillo Airport Board over a contract shift to Aircraftsmen of Oklahoma City. Shelby Kruser represented pilots opposing the deal that would grant two city hangars and fuel sales rights to Aircraftsmen, threatening Plains Aero’s Terminal business. The board defended the bid as best for the city, while city officials reviewed the expired Plains contract and potential legal implications.
Potter County Democrats last night pledged 29 state delegates to back Sen. Lyndon Johnson for Texas chair and Democratic nominee. A Texas rights plank passed 192 to 83, while delegates endorsed Austin Mayor Tom Miller as national committeeman and named Charlie Gibson delegation chair for the Dallas state convention. Police state convention fights split precincts with Johnson supporters gaining ground against Gov. Allan Shivers.
In Dallas county a 135-delegate block joins 35 El Paso delegates with another 35 uninstructed. Johnson needs 951 votes to steer the 1900 delegate state convention where the leading state delegation to the national convention will be chosen, with Harris County backing the surge. The move aids a favorable sendoff toward a favorite son presidential bid.

Potter County Republicans endorsed Eisenhower and adopted six resolutions after a two hour meeting in the 108th District Courtroom. Delegates named to attend the state convention in Houston May 22, including 14 delegates and calls to invite Democrats of goodwill. Debates centered on Bricker amendment and Supreme Court in desegregation and sedition prosecutions.

In Randall County Texas a rump Democratic session and a regular convention split 48 to 28. South Amarillo delegates walked out led by James Faulkner after a dispute over unadmitted precinct 12 delegates. Jack Taylor chaired the regular meeting. William Boyce won as convention chair. Joe Frank of Umbarger had two votes disallowed.
President Eisenhower outpolled Senator Kefauver in Indiana, extending his lead in the presidential preference primary. Florida Ohio West Virginia and New Mexico also held primaries yesterday in a day of mixed results.
Indiana returns show Eisenhower leading with 116 855 to 4 960 for Daly in the Republican primary while Kefauver runs unopposed in the Democratic race with 66 754 votes from 1 466 precincts not counting Lake County. Panhandle and South Plains forecast partly cloudy with scattered thundershowers and cooler conditions Thursday.
Delegations to county conventions expressed strong support for Lyndon B. Johnson as favorite son candidate and Democratic leader. Some counties urged state resource control and insignia rules, with Hale, Hall, Cottle, and Gray counties signaling shifts from Shivers and GOP policy to bolster Johnson in the 1950s Democratic realignment.
The Gray County meeting congratulated Elder Statesman Harry S Truman on his 72nd birthday and urged Gov. Shivers to join the Republican party. In most counties, rump conventions failed to show strength as token resistance. Roberts County plans to cast its single vote for Shivers at the State convention.
Sen. Price Daniel of Texas urged the Senate Agriculture Committee to keep the House farm bill provision raising feed grain supports from 70 to 81 percent of parity. He noted the plan helps farmers’ returns and reduces surplus while proposing voluntary participation and soil bank acreage criteria. Daniel also urged consistent policy for future years and cited a noncompliance program for corn as a model.
