Crash in Guayaquil plane kills many in city street
A military airplane crashed in downtown Guayaquil killing at least 18 people and burning four houses after fuel tanks exploded. Pilots Capt. Cristobal and Warrant Officer Galo Espinoza died, a mechanic was slightly hurt, and rescue teams recovered several bodies. The aviators were en route from Quito to the local airport. Dr. Jose Vicente Trujillo escaped by jumping from a burning building.
