During a vote on company proposals to end a strike at the Toledo Chevrolet plant ten members and leaders of the Independent Workers Society were pelted with bricks and stones as they rode away in a car. Fred Seiger escaped unharmed. police ended the disturbance with four officers. Two men were arrested for disturbing the peace and later released on bond. The walkout began April 23 and affects 30,000 workers in several plants.

Refineries Closed in East Texas Area
