Plainview May 7 13 month old Shelia Diane Inman daughter of Mr and Mrs J B Inman of Hale Center was drowned this afternoon at the family home. Found face down in an irrigation well spillway by sister Sandra. Taken to Hale County Cooperative Hospital where resuscitation failed. Funeral arrangements pending at Lemons Funeral Home Plainview. Survivors include ten brothers and two sisters all living with parents.

Small Tornado Rips Trees Near McLean
A small tornado dipped to the ground just west of McLean this afternoon uprooting several trees with little other damage. No injuries were reported. A two inch rain downpour accompanied the twister as observers noted thunderclouds and a moving funnel along the Rock Island tracks while Rock Island trains were held north of Groom for inspection.

Johnson Trial Begins Today
The trial of Ewald Johnson, 30, a former Air Force man from Munising Michigan, opens in 47th District Court over the June 22 1949 slaying of Tex Thornton. Johnson was arrested after an eight month manhunt that followed Thornton a Will Rogers Range Riders member found murdered at the Park Plaza Motel. Johnsons wife Diana also faces murder charges and is jailed. she is not expected to testify. About 400 of 500 jurors have accepted service and both sides anticipate a jury from that pool.

Hubert Clay Ralson, former Amarillo High School salutatorian and Yale scholar, died in New Haven eight days after a two car wreck that injured four Yale students. Survived by his parents and grandmother, services set for Wednesday at First Baptist Church with funeral arrangements by Blackburn-Shaw.
