More than 3500 Amarillo school children paraded downtown to back a proposed Amarillo Methodist college. A 1 day, 200 worker drive begins today to raise 200000 for an administration building with 1750 noncontributors assigned to 180 solicitors and more volunteers sought.
Weather report shows Tuesday largely unsettled for New Mexico with inland warmth and higher pressure over Texas. Ample cloudiness, warmer conditions, and a high near 90 expected in Amarillo with a low around 61.
Denver real estate man J Hill Clark faces a grand jury indictment for swindling Kathleen Hall of Amarillo. Mrs Hall, a Fort Worth native now in Denver, paid 93 000 for a 40 acre Gables subdivision lot and says Clark misused funds, altered contracts, and failed to deliver promised improvements and resale proceeds. The case details alleged poor property improvements and misrepresentation.
New York May 7 Miss Mabel Bell Queen of Diamonds has offered 68000 for Commander Richard Byrd s tri motor Fokker monoplane and will attempt an Atlantic crossing if the sale is completed, she said today.
The Chicago Stock Exchange reports a record 274 200 shares traded today breaking the prior high of 200 000 set last week as market activity surges.
Mrs B B Boren 16 once of Borger Texas killed herself after visiting her youthful husband in Chase county jail where he served 60 days for selling liquor. The couple had moved from Borger about a year ago. the 21 year old husband was accompanied by a deputy when the fatal shot occurred.
The London Mail reports Britain will demand Prince Carol of Romania leave England after a Surrey visit. Carol admitted responsibility for a manifesto claiming he would reclaim Romania’s throne if called, while British papers said a plot to seize the throne was deterred but not abandoned. Plans allegedly included flights of manifestos over Romania and rapid transport from Godstone to Croydon.
